A pointless killing. A day care worker in a deadly rage slammed a 3-year-old girl to the ground. The reason? Because the toddler wouldn’t take off her coat. The girl, Autumn Elgersma, spent two days in the hospital and died from brain injuries. The killer, Rochelle Sapp, 33, ran the day care out of her home in Orange City, Iowa.

She called Autumn’s mother on October the 29th and claimed the girl fell down the stairs.

The mother, Jennifer Elgersma, rushed her young daughter to a local hospital, and the little girl was flown by helicopter to a trauma center in Sioux Falls.

Doctors in the trauma center discovered Autumn’s skull was fractured and that she had suffered brain trauma.

Orange County police said Sapp admitted she had a deadly rage and threw the girl on the floor when the toddler wouldn’t take off her coat. The day care worker was originally charged with seriously injuring and endangering the little girl, but after the death, was arrested on felony charges of first-degree murder and child endangerment causing death.

The heartbroken parents issued a statement, thanking supporters for their prayers.
«Autumn was a joy in our lives and we are blessed to have called her ours», Philip and Jennifer Elgersma said. «We take comfort in the fact that she is now with her savior, Jesus Christ.
We ask for your continued thoughts and prayers for our family
