Less than two weeks to go before the start of the 49th Eurospin RomaOstia Half Marathon. The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 3, starting from Piazzale Pierluigi Nervi (in front of PalaEur) and ending at the picturesque Ostia roundabout. The race is organized by GSBRun in partnership with RCS Sports & Events, under the auspices of World Athletics and FIDAL, and with the patronage of Roma Capitale and the Lazio Region. RomaOstia boasts the prestigious World Athletics Label, an award given to events that meet high organizational and competitive performance standards. Also at the starting line is the Vice President of CONI Silvia Salis who will participate in the race after her recent pregnancy.

The final free training session in preparation for the race will take place on Saturday, February 24, at the Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese. The meeting is at 9:00 am to then start the training session at 10:00 am. The staff of the Policlinico Gemelli coordinated by Professor Francesco Landi will be present, at whose stand it will be possible to carry out free screenings and check-ups. Other Partners will not be lacking (Eurospin, Title Sponsor of RomaOstia, and Enervit, Nutrition Partner, offering all participants exclusive products.

Almost 10,000 bibs have been reserved by runners for next March 3. Therefore, a strong growth trend is confirmed with an interesting presence of foreign athletes - over 20% of the registrants - and female registrations (25%, a percentage in clear and comforting growth compared to previous years). It is also still possible to register for the race, until the bibs are sold out, on the website www.romaostia.it by donating 5 euros to one of the NPOs (Non-Profit Organizations) among Komen Italia Onlus, Policlinico Gemelli, Never Give Up as part of the initiative linked to the "heart month" which coincides with this February.

We will return to run on the very fast course of 21.0975 kilometers, revised in the initial part a few years ago. A route that reflects the technical and performance characteristics that have always belonged to the DNA of this race. From the choreographic start in the shadow of the Palazzo dello Sport, crossing the wide and flowing avenues of the EUR district, you reach the Cristoforo Colombo, the main artery that connects Rome to its sea, with the spectacular arrival directly on the Ostia roundabout.

The RomaOstia Village this year will be set up in Piazzale Pier Luigi Nervi, near the start of the race, on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 March (from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm). On Friday, March 1, there will be a talk on grassroots sport as a vehicle for well-being and prevention with interventions by the Komen, Gemelli Onlus and Never Give Up associations, as well as specialists and doctors, such as nutritionists and physiotherapists. On Saturday, March 2, there will be a presentation of the elite athletes and pacemakers. Adidas will also be present with "The Running Lab".

Onorato's comment

"I'm happy that the RomaOstia Half Marathon is more feminine and more international than ever. There are only two weeks left until the 49th edition of the Eurospin RomaOstia Half Marathon and the official announcement of over 10,000 participants is a great satisfaction. Knowing that 21.5% are foreign runners (compared to 19.3% in 2023) and that 27.17% are women (compared to 24.13% in 2023) - he adds - is the real icing on the cake for a beautiful race that confirms a perfect mix of sport and participation. An event that generates positive effects on tourism, economy and employment, especially for the Roman coast".
