Unstable Weather Across Italy with Yellow Alert in Lazio

Highly unstable weather at least until Tuesday, despite the hints of spring. A somewhat extreme March as demonstrated by the pouring rain in Rome, preceded by several hours of sunshine and temperatures around 12°C. The yellow weather alert remains in the Lazio region. By mid-morning, a very fast water bomb arrived: a heavy rain. The bad weather front, however, affects a bit all the central regions with rains and showers on the Adriatic side, especially in Abruzzo and especially between Pescara and Chieti. It snows on the Abruzzo Apennines above 1300m with about 10cm of fresh snow accumulation at 1800m of altitude. Bad weather, landslides in Liguria and tourists evacuated in Valle d'Aosta: weather alert in 16 regions. Avalanche in the Imperia area: mountaineer dead. There is meteorological variability in the morning with some rain also on the Adriatic side, instability increasing from the afternoon with showers and thunderstorms especially on the inland areas and the Tyrrhenian side and over much of Lazio, locally accompanied by hail, weaker on the Adriatic coasts. There should be a turnaround on Wednesday when the African anticyclone from the Iberian Peninsula and even before from Morocco, will reach most of Italy bringing a stable, sunny and also mild atmosphere. With the presence of a more generous sun, the temperatures can only increase and thus during the day they will easily reach 16-18°C, over 20°C instead on Sicily, on the inland areas of Sardinia and on the alpine valleys.
