Sapienza University Unveils Its 2024-2025 Academic Offerings

Over 300 degree courses, of which 37 are in English. Two hundred master's degrees, both first and second level, 86 specialization schools, more than 90 PhD programs. This is just a part of the educational offerings for 2024-2025 from Sapienza, which opens its doors today, Wednesday, March 20, to prospective freshmen. An event, 'Open Doors at Sapienza', which in the past 27 editions has always been held in July. This time, the university has decided to move it to March to meet students' needs and to facilitate a decision that will have a significant impact on the rest of their lives. And which in the first few hours has already been a huge success, with thousands of students filling the avenues of the university city in search of information. 'This year we decided to move Open Doors at Sapienza earlier with the aim of giving students more time to reflect on an important decision,' explains Rector Antonella Polimeni - These are the days when the University presents itself for what it is: a place of fruitful dialogue between different and transdisciplinary knowledge, capable of providing tools for understanding and managing complexity, thanks to the multiple skills it encompasses and nurtures.' With 'Open Doors 2024', Sapienza also joins the First National Day of Italian Universities 'Universities Revealed' promoted by Crui, scheduled for March 20, 2024, at 85 Italian Universities. 'It is an extraordinary opportunity to showcase the scientific and cultural activities of the academic communities,' said Rector Antonella Polimeni - The initiative strengthens the link between universities and the territory, as highlighted by President Mattarella in his message dedicated to this First Day of Universities, 'contributing to the spread of knowledge, participation in public life, and the consolidation of social cohesion.' Our University - the Rector continues - participates with the orientation event Open Doors at Sapienza which this year, for the first time after 27 years, has been moved to March. Sapienza opens its doors to future freshmen with information stands, attended by students, teachers, and student associations, with meetings in classrooms, immersive experiences in laboratories, and with the opening of its 19 museums. During the days from March 20 to 22 along the main avenue of the university city, information points dedicated to the courses of study offered by the University will be set up, as well as to the services and opportunities that students can take advantage of: sports activities, psychological counseling, Anti-Violence Center, disability office, MuSa orchestras and Theatron-Ancient Theater at Sapienza. At the stands, professors, researchers, and students will be available to answer questions and provide details on the activities and the 2024-2025 educational offerings. Concurrently, over the three days in the Aula Magna of the Rectorate, 12 conferences will be held to present the courses of study grouped by disciplinary area. Furthermore, a Live Chat will be opened on the Sapienza website to ask questions and receive answers, and orientation videos and typical lectures for all courses will be made available. Among the new features of the academic year 2024-2025, the opening at the Rieti Campus of the Medicine and Surgery course and the master's degree course 'Law, Administration and Management of Cultural Heritage'; moreover, the master's degree course in English 'Design, Territory, Identity and Cultural Assets' in collaboration with the universities of Lisbon and Malaga and the course 'Sciences and Techniques of Motor Activities with a Biomedical Curve' in collaboration with the University of Rome 'Foro Italico' have been established. An important part of the Sapienza proposal is the training course 'The Sciences of Sustainability: the cultural, ecological, and digital transition', which from next year will also become a subject of teaching in all degree courses, becoming part of the curricular educational offering for students. The purpose of this experimental educational initiative, which involves teachers from the various cultural areas present in the 57 departments, is to promote a process of literacy in sustainability with a transdisciplinary character.
