Prince William and Queen consort Camilla continue to shoulder the main commitments of the royal family alone, which at this time cannot count on King Charles III and Princess Kate, both convalescing.

This afternoon, it was thus Prince William's turn to walk alone on the red carpet of the Bafta awards.  The 42-year-old has also been the president of the EE British Academy Film Awards since 2010 and is therefore used to attending events at the Royal Festival Hall. The royal couple's first participation in the Bafta ceremony dates back to 2017.

William appeared very smiling and affable, ready to stop and exchange a few words even with the fans who besieged the catwalk.

In the hall, Prince William was seated next to star Cate Blanchett. Nearby were also Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt, Emma Stone and Florence Pugh, as usual very elegant.

This is the most prestigious event that the prince has attended since his wife, on January 16, underwent abdominal surgery and since the news of the tumor that struck his father.

The prince's presence at today's event was only recently confirmed and no one would have had anything to say if William had decided to stay with his wife and three children at Adelaide Cottage.

Out of necessity, his participations have become rare, but nonetheless in early February he gave a speech at a charity event in London to raise funds for the new fleet of helicopters of the London Air Ambulance Charity.

For today's ceremony, William appeared with a double-breasted black velvet tuxedo jacket. Between one award and another he spoke with cinema and TV stars, including Emma Mackey from Austin and Sex Education, and with the event's host, Alison Hammond.
