Novak Djokovic Withdraws from Miami Masters 1000

Two days after being eliminated at Indian Wells by Luca Nardi, Novak Djokovic has decided he will not play in the Miami Masters 1000, scheduled from March 20 to 31. The news comes from the Serbian press: the world number 1 has decided to skip the Florida tournament where he has won six times in his career. This choice was made, probably, to preserve his physique in view of upcoming commitments, given his age (36 years). 'Novak Djokovic won’t play in Miami,' tweeted Saša Ozmo. His main goal is to participate in the Paris Olympic Games and to start the clay season in the best possible way. Already after the defeat against the Italian Nardi, Djokovic had declared he played bad tennis and was not used to not winning titles, and regarding the participation in Miami, he had limited himself to a 'We'll see.' Now he has made his decision, which includes taking a break, presumably preparing for the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, scheduled from April 7 to 14.
