A new synergy to share and pre-establish the guidelines for urban regeneration interventions in the railway node of Rome. Thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding signed by FS Urban Systems, the leading company of the Urban Hub of the FS Group, the Special Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape of Rome, and the Regional Secretariat of Lazio of the Ministry of Culture, a constant dialogue is planned to ensure the protection of the cultural heritage of Rome's urban context. The agreement establishes the methods of relationship between the parties in order to make the projects consistent with the needs of protecting the cultural heritage of the urban context. The outcome of this relationship will be the sharing and ratification of specific guidelines for each area, based on which it will be possible to set the design of individual initiatives. The collaboration will allow to operate in parallel to the procedures for verifying cultural interest, as provided by Legislative Decree 42/2004, on buildings and areas located in urban areas affected by urban transformations. On the occasion of the signing of the Protocol, the parties also signed the 'Guidelines for the design of the area of the disused railway areas of the Rome Tuscolana station', an area of about 50,000 sq m between Via Appia, Via Tuscolana, and Via Casilina. This project, of strategic importance for the city and for the potential for regeneration, is the subject of an urban planning variation to the General Regulatory Plan, pursuant to art.10 of the Urban Planning Law 1150/42, soon to be approved by Rome Capital.
