Music for Sustainable Development: A Nationwide Festival in Italy

The event produced by Music Innovation Hub alongside the 2024 Sustainable Development Festival promoted by ASviS and in collaboration with the UN SDG Action Campaign, will conclude in Rome on Friday, May 24 at the Ennio Morricone Music Park Auditorium. The protagonists will be the charismatic and talented BigMama, with her candid rap that brings the theme of discrimination to the forefront, and the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), a musical excellence that since 1976 represents the combination of art and commitment on an international level, to foster reflection on the values of equality and inclusiveness and on the role of music as an agent of awareness and a driver of change. The concert will also mark the conclusion of the eighth edition of the Sustainable Development Festival and will be a highly symbolic event, designed to draw attention to the economic, social, environmental, and institutional challenges that the European Union must face to improve the quality of life of people and contribute to sustainable development from every perspective. The event will be free with registration on DICE. A varied proposal that of Heroes, which in the month of May will take around Italy the numerous artists who have chosen to join the project and become spokespersons, heroes, of the festival's issues and the mission of Music Innovation Hub. Opening will be the harpist Kety Fusco, one of the most original and interesting emerging artists in the European music scene, Tuesday, May 7 at the Auditorium Officina H in Ivrea. The concert will close the inaugural day of the Sustainable Development Festival and will be free with registration on DICE. The other scheduled stops will be two events at Cascina Falchera in Turin on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 May (both within the Salone Off program): a first evening dedicated to the most refined singer-songwriting with Tiromancino and opening Clauscalmo, and a second appointment where the focus will shift towards Italo disco coordinates with the DJ set by Emmanuelle followed by the live performance of Dov'è Liana. From Turin, the festival will move to DumBo in Bologna on Thursday, May 16 with Lucio Corsi and Casino Royale. Friday, May 17 will instead be at BASE Milano with Deena Abdelwahed and Populous (event within the WeWorld Festival program) and then at Averna Spazio Open in Palermo for the live of Cosmo, with the producer go-Dratta opening, Tuesday, May 21. Each appointment of the Festival is realized in collaboration with an important local interlocutor and aims to valorize the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda also on the territories. The chosen venues are locations of recognized social and cultural value, important poles of aggregation for the local community. Through the journey of Heroes from north to south of Italy, Music Innovation Hub aims to communicate a different interpretation of the cities and their context, through what music contributes to create in the collective imagination of the same chosen cities. Heroes will be ambassador and megaphone of the ASviS Sustainable Development Festival scheduled from May 7 to 23 with closing concert on Friday, May 24.
