Massive Child Pornography Ring Uncovered in Italy

A 62-year-old man from the province of Rome has been found in possession of numerous files containing child pornography of pre-school aged children. For this reason, he has been arrested by the police and is now under house arrest. The files, which contained videos and photos of sexual acts, were stored within password-protected digital archives and have been acquired by the authorities. The discovery was made possible thanks to a meticulous computer search activity, ordered by the judicial authority and triggered following the identification of an abnormal flow of illegal material storage on cloud storage platforms. The activity was coordinated by the Cybersecurity Operational Center of Lazio. The investigation was carried out with the coordination of the National Center for Combating Child Pornography online (Cncpo). The investigation will now continue with the analysis of the seized material to identify any further responsibilities and to identify the minors involved. The same fate befell a 50-year-old man, residing in the province of Latina. In this case, the investigation was triggered following a report to the National Center for Combating Child Pornography online (Cncpo) of improper use of social networks and virtual storage spaces. Investigators later managed to trace the man's identity, who hid photos and videos of minors on his PC and tablet. In total, about 10,000 files were discovered by law enforcement.
