Martín Castrogiovanni's Journey from Rugby to Family Life

"We were in Mendoza (Argentina), I put the ring my mother had given me into the mate. She was about to drink it," Martín Castrogiovanni shares his marriage proposal on Verissimo. He arrives in the studio with his wife Daniela. The host and former rugby player also talks about the special relationship he has with Rocco, the son Daniela had from a previous relationship. Donatella Rettore: "My mother never came to a concert. The marriage with Claudio? For my 50th birthday." The relationship with Daniela's son Rocco. "Rocco has a dad and a mom. I think of myself more as a friend than a dad to him, but we have a beautiful relationship made of respect and affection," says Martin Castrogiovanni. "They have a beautiful relationship," confirms Daniela. The host and former rugby player adds: "We also have a beautiful relationship with Rocco's dad. I think it's important for him to see a united family." The meeting. "I was in a period where I didn't want to face what had happened to me (leaving the sport)." This is when he meets Daniela. She adds, "We met in a bizarre way, a friend made a video call in which I found myself and the next day I got a message from him." A couple of months later they met in person. He kissed her and realized she was "the woman of his life." How the marriage proposal happened? "She burst into tears and took a while to answer." He was in doubt: "I kept asking her: 'Is it a NO or a YES?'" Then about Daniela's 19-year-old son, he confessed: "I tell everyone that Rocco is my son, he has a dad and a mom I hope I'm more of a friend to him but there's a beautiful relationship of respect and also with the father there's a good relationship. We are very united and always together. It's an important signal to give." The wedding. Martin Castrogiovanni and Daniela Marzulli first met in 2019, thanks to some mutual friends. In 2020, they decided to get married, with an intimate ceremony in the location Tre Croci, a hamlet of Vetralla, in the province of Viterbo. "Daniela is the person I have to fight for, she is a beautiful and intelligent woman. She is giving me so many emotions, that no one has ever given me in my life. I am very much in love with Daniela and I am very happy with her. We still have so much to share," said Martin Castrogiovanni in Silvia Toffanin's living room. "Love is helping me a lot to grow, to understand my mistakes. Daniela and I grow together," the words dedicated to his wife.
