Launch of the First Rome Folk Festival at Stazione Birra

On April 16th, the first edition of the Rome Folk Festival kicks off at Stazione Birra in Rome, a winning project of the Public Notice promoted by Rome Capital in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura. The event, with Radio Rock as a media partner, aims to create a festival where the souls of folk music, often relegated to more strictly regional contexts, can find space. Prominent artists will thus take turns performing on the evenings of April 16-17-18 and 22-23-24. On April 16th, in particular, the festival will be opened by DAVIDE VAN DE SFROOS, engaged in a tour in Italian and Swiss theaters, who will bring to the stage historic songs of his thirty-year career and the songs from his latest discographic project Manoglia. Following, on April 17th, it will be the turn of RISERVA MOAC, a band born from folk but soon influenced by sounds, words, and rhythms of the world, has given rise to a characteristic and personal sound that ranges from World to Balkan, to Irish, to Patchanka. Also on the 17th, the PARTO DELLE NUVOLE PESANTI will perform, a historic Calabrian-Bolognese band, which will give life to a concert where the Calabrian musical tradition merges with the Mediterranean one, with incursions of songs from the latest album Sottomondi. On April 18th, DARIO SANSONE, leader of the historic Neapolitan band Foja, will take the stage, accompanied by an exceptional 'ensemble', on a new musical journey where the Neapolitan roots and the sounds of the world merge, including unreleased tracks and old songs from his repertoire. The following week, on April 22nd, it will be the turn of the GANG, the folk rock band from Marche of the Severini brothers, Marino and Sandro, born in the early '80s. The evening of the 22nd will be further enriched by I LUF, a 'pack' of musicians coming from different experiences who together have created a strong sound impact, with a significant folk-rock imprint, where traditional themes and music are reworked with compelling rhythms. On April 23rd, it will be the turn of the MODENA CITY RAMBLERS, a historic Emilian group active since 1991 with a career spanning over thirty years filled with successes, both in terms of records and live tours, in Italy and Europe. In 2022 they celebrated Appunti Partigiani, a gold record from 2005, on a tour that, in addition to Italy in more than 40 dates, also touched South Africa, Spain, passing through the Sziget Festival in Budapest. In June of the previous year, Altomare, their latest album came out, more than six years after the previous album of new songs. On the last day of the festival, April 24th, FOLKABBESTIA will arrive at Stazione Birra, a group with an unmistakable style that draws inspiration from the Italian tradition ranging from folk to rock, from singer-songwriter to popular song, from ska to punk. Finally, on the 24th, ALBERTO BERTOLI will complete the line-up, bringing to the stage 'Due voci intorno al fuoco', an exciting virtual musical dialogue between him and his father, Pierangelo Bertoli.
