Despite conspiracy theories suggesting she was practically on her deathbed, Kate Middleton has reappeared today, accompanied by her children, in a tender shot released by the Palace for Mother's Day. Relaxed and smiling, she seems to be fully recovering after her abdominal surgery, in line with predictions that she would be able to resume public engagements after Easter. However, an unprecedented "photo editing" controversy has erupted over the shot. In the photo, there appears to be an "editing fail": on social media, the more observant have pointed out Princess Charlotte's hand, which seems to be slightly misaligned from the sleeve. Evidence that the shot was somehow retouched. Why? Is it possible that something was added later? The case thickens when, in the evening, some press agencies including AP and Reuters withdrew the photo as it was "retouched by the same source", as reported by royal commentator Chris Ship. Buckingham Palace has refused to comment. It should also be said that the shadow of photo editing had already fallen on other family shots of the Princes of Wales, without, however, ever causing such a controversy. In the shot, neither Kate's wedding band nor her engagement ring, the beautiful blue sapphire that belonged to Lady Diana, are visible. George and Louis, on the other hand, wear sweaters from the French brand Cyrillus, while little Princess Charlotte wears a red cardigan by Cotton and Cashmere.
