Gary Sinise's Son, Mac, Passes Away at 33 After Battling a Rare Spinal Tumor

Mac, the 33-year-old son of Gary Sinise, an American actor and director, has died after a long illness. The father announced it, revealing the tragic loss that occurred last January 5 through a statement: "Like any family experiencing such a loss, our hearts are broken and we have done our best. As parents, losing a child is so hard. My thoughts go out to all those who have suffered a similar loss and to anyone who has lost a loved one." Gary Alan Sinise is a well-known American actor, famous for his roles in the Robert Zemeckis film "Forrest Gump" and the TV series "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders." Married since 1981 to actress Moira Harris, the couple had three children: among them McCanna Anthony born in 1990. The young man was a passionate drummer who was diagnosed with a rare form of spinal tumor, chordoma, 5 years ago. In recent times, Mac dedicated himself, as much as he could, entirely to music, "completing his last album," as his father Gary recounted. The young Sinise was diagnosed with a chordoma in August 2018, just two months after his mother Moira was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. The woman underwent treatment and is now in complete remission. Mac's tumor, however, had no cure and over time spread, making the boy increasingly disabled.
