Firefighters Battle Blaze at Illegal Landfill in Rome's Outskirts

Firefighters are still working to extinguish the fire at the illegal landfill that broke out yesterday afternoon on Via Collatina Vecchia, near Via Palmiro Togliatti on the eastern outskirts. The operations to extinguish various types of materials that continue to burn went on throughout the night. The roads affected have been reopened to traffic, but precautionary measures suggested by the Municipality remain in force, namely: not to linger near the area affected by the fire; to keep windows closed in case of persistent and foul-smelling fumes; not to use air conditioners with external intakes at the moment.
