Federica Brignone Secures Second Place in Season's Final Super-G at Saalbach

Federica Brignone arrived second at Saalbach in the last Super-G of the season and conquers the 69th podium of her career. After three victories in the last three races, the Italian skier arrived behind Ester Ledecka, who finished with 1'15"94, crossing the finish line in 1'16"22. Third was the Norwegian Kajsa Lie in 1.16.24. The discipline cup went as expected to the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami, who only needed a 7th place to win it but behind her was Federica Brignone, thus also becoming the second-best super-G skier of an amazing season for her. For Italy - with sun and spring warmth and a base that held up well on a not too difficult track but with a complicated initial jump and some blind passages to memorize in reconnaissance - in the ranking also Marta Bassino 7th in 1.16.74, Laura Pirovano 11th in 1.16.77 and Roberta Melesi 18th in 1.17.61. Tomorrow at Saalbach the women's World Cup season closes with the last downhill, decisive for the assignment of the specialty cup: absent the injured Sofia Goggia, the favorite is once again Lara Gut-Behrami.
