Farewell to Madame Sisi: The Iconic Drag Queen of Desenzano del Garda

At his home, the Art Club of Desenzano del Garda, fun has always been the watchword. Now the nightlife mourns the death of Carlo Tessari, known as Madame Sisi, who died in the late morning of March 11th after a long illness. In 2014, he became the first drag queen in Italy to officiate the wedding of two friends, Sara Rizzini and Giovanni Cortellazzi. In recent months, his condition had worsened, but the support and backing of his loved ones and friends never faltered. Madame Sisi was a symbol of the night in Desenzano del Garda. "Your Art Club family tightens around this loss. Have a good journey," is the post on social media that the nightclub dedicated to a story. His club was a point of reference throughout the region. "Now fly with your angels, make them sing and dance with all your energy," is one of the messages for the entrepreneur. In 2014, Madame Sisi had been the first drag queen to celebrate a wedding in Italy, in the town of Lonato. The then mayor Mario Biocchio had said: "I know Carlo Tessari well. He is an honest person, with no civil liabilities, and who has the right to officiate a wedding. I therefore delegate him to officiate the civil ceremony as I could have delegated any other citizen. Tessari is an altruist, who does his job and on several occasions has also helped young people in difficulty."
