Eviction of Bangladeshi Citizens Living in Inhumane Conditions in Rome

Two basements of 30 and 40 square meters in the Termini area were cleared out, where 21 Bangladeshi citizens were living in "inhumane conditions". The landlord, also from Bangladesh, worked for the owner of the properties (an eighty-two-year-old Italian) and had the authority to sublet. The foreigners were identified on-site by the authorities in charge of the eviction and were found to be regular immigrants. The verification of the titles exhibited will continue in the coming days, and the local health authority (Asl), present at the inspection, may, if the conditions are met, request the revocation of the habitability. The eighty-two-year-old and his wife rented the two spaces as "storerooms". They will be reported for the change of use.
