On Sunday, January 28th, at the Sogno del mare surf school in Fregene, there will be an event dedicated to environmental protection, with the participation of three associations to unite environmental protection, inclusion, autism, and surfing.

The event

The event, created by three associations, “Sogno del mare surf school” by Marco Geracitano, “how we saved world” by Leandro Olivieri and “Agsa Lazio - Association of parents of autistic subjects”, aims to involve and raise awareness of as many people as possible on the theme of respect for the environment through a beach Clean up, or a collection of waste abandoned on the beach. This activity, led by Leandro Olivieri, an activist who is cycling all over Italy along the coast to clean a different beach every day, will take place in groups and at the end the waste will be weighed and a winning group will be elected. The entire event will take place at the Sogno del mare surf school in Fregene, where Marco Geracitano, an athlete and L1, L2 and Adaptive instructor, has also planned a Surf lesson for the autistic boys of the Agsa association who have been following him in the water for a few years, establishing a friendship with him and fully integrating into the context and with all the students of the surf school. This is the main goal of Agsa, born to promote initiatives aimed at respecting civil rights in favor of autistic people so that their inalienable right to a free and protected life is guaranteed, as independent as possible in respect of their dignity. The association is followed by many young volunteers who contribute to providing the correct assistance during activities such as surfing. But also trekking, sailing trips and leisure moments in general.

This event that calls young people, families and children, is an event for all ages and an opportunity to spend a Sunday at the end of January together for a common good and in a context, that of the surf school, which opens its doors to the proposed activities all year round.

The surf school

Among the most renowned surf schools on the coast, recognized by the Italian Olympic Committee and the Italian FISSW Federation, it is located in Fregene at the “Sogno del Mare” resort from which it takes its name and is managed by Marco Geracitano, a historic face of the school. It is open all year round with private and group surf, sup, sup-surf lessons, suitable for all levels and followed by qualified instructors. Several projects are underway, including “Dream Comes True”, dedicated to disabled children who have been able to achieve great goals, both sporting and personal, thanks to adaptive surfing and a context attentive to inclusivity. Another project is dedicated to respecting the environment with days dedicated to Clean Up and Surf. Every summer the school also opens its doors to the Summer Center dedicated to children and teenagers from 6 years old, a real full immersion of surf, fun and many activities dedicated to sport. Every year, trips with intensive surf courses abroad are also organized.

Marco Geracitano, at Sogno del Mare for 12 years, is a federal Isa Surf International instructor of levels L1-L2-Adaptive, as well as a national athlete of surf and sup-surf. He is also the coach of his competitive team with which he carries out targeted training and preparation for competitions. He has been practicing this sport since he was 8 years old, has won various titles in both national and international competitions, which he still participates in with excellent results, such as the sup-surf world championships last September or the Italian absolute ones last December.
