Berrettini's Health Scare at Miami Masters 1000

The scare was real, after seeing him stagger during his batting turn. Matteo Berrettini lost the first round of the Miami Masters 1000 against Andy Murray (6-4, 3-6, 4-6) but what was worrying were his health conditions. An hour and a half into the game, while preparing to serve, the Italian had a dizzy spell and began to stagger, leaning on his racket. Berrettini, feeling unwell during the match against Murray: collapses before service, then recovers after medical intervention (but loses). The match was interrupted for about 4 minutes and Matteo seemed visibly exhausted. It was not exactly a beautiful scene to witness which made his team, the spectators on the field, and naturally also the audience at home worried. Berrettini's tournament ended early but what matters most is that the boy is fine. This was confirmed by Matteo himself through some Instagram stories published a few minutes ago. Berrettini's words on social media: 'I think some of you saw that I was not feeling very well yesterday. I almost fainted at one point. I woke up feeling sick and very weak but I still decided to go down to the field and not give up on the match. I wanted to play and take the field despite the circumstances not being perfect. I believe I had an intestinal virus that made itself felt quite a bit. Fortunately, now I am better, the good news is that there is nothing serious. I will return to training soon to prepare for the tournaments on clay, in Marrakesh and all the other tournaments that I can't wait to compete in. It's been two years since I've played on clay so I'm happy. Thanks again for the messages and for the support. I'm fine and see you soon on the field.'
