AS Roma Employee Dismissed Amid Revenge Porn Scandal

A rather controversial affair has involved AS Roma in recent months, which allegedly fired an employee victim of revenge porn. According to Fatto Quotidiano, in fact, the woman (30 years old) was dismissed after an intimate video of hers was stolen from her cellphone by a Primavera team player and spread among teammates and staff. Instead of siding with its employee, the company preferred to dismiss her, citing 'environmental incompatibility' as the reason. The incriminating video was stolen from the employee's cellphone by a Primavera player, to whom the woman had lent her smartphone for a call to his agent. The footage, in which she is depicted in intimate attitudes with her partner, was then spread by the young footballer to the rest of the team, and then reached executives, staff, and other employees. In internal chats and on social media, sexually suggestive comments also appeared, making the woman a victim of revenge porn in all respects. The dismissal took place last autumn and the woman's removal occurred in November, therefore before the huge wave of layoffs that occurred at Trigoria in the following period. In the dismissal letter sent by Lorenzo Vitali, lawyer of the Friedkins, it is highlighted that the dissemination of the video compromised the possibility of maintaining a serene work environment, precisely because of the viewing of the footage by many members of the staff and players of AS Roma. The woman was immediately removed from the sports center, with the company avoiding commenting on the matter. According to the reconstruction by Fatto Quotidiano, there was also the admission of the player, who in a meeting tearfully confessed to having stolen the video from the woman's cellphone. The former employee turned to a lawyer, Francesco Bronzini, who is trying to negotiate her reinstatement in the company, also contesting the fact that the player did not receive any kind of sanction. If the legal action were to continue, AS Roma would be forced, at least, to take a public stance.
