Arrests in Velletri for Extortion and Unintentional Homicide

The Carabinieri of the Velletri Company have arrested a man and a woman, aged 54 and 46 respectively, seriously suspected of extortion and unintentional homicide against ST, 52 years old, who died last January 21st at the Velletri hospital. The man was taken to the Velletri prison, while the woman was placed under house arrest. The precautionary measure, issued by the investigating judge of the Velletri Court, fully accepted the investigative results obtained by the soldiers operating during the investigations coordinated by the local Prosecutor's Office. The complex and articulated investigative activity allowed to gather serious circumstantial evidence on the fact that the two suspects had improperly used the victim's citizenship income card, which they had seized after threats and beatings, last December. After the last beatings suffered, on December 23, the victim had been hospitalized at the Velletri hospital, where he then died on January 21, 2024. From the investigative activities, it emerged how the arrested man, during the course of 2023, had been responsible for other extortions against two retirees of Velletri (one of whom was over ninety), collectively handing over the sum of one thousand euros.
