Al Bano's National Anthem Performance Sparks Mixed Reactions

The performance of the Mameli's Anthem by Al Bano did not go unnoticed. But the desire to sing and not to listen was great because it was worth it. It was an experience I had not had before". And about the wrong notes: "I sang off-key, yes, I admit it, I say it first because my voice was a bit gone". The veteran of Italian music, presenting himself with his usual white Panama hat, sang the Canto degli Italiani a cappella, taking the stage. But he sang off-key, and his personal interpretation was not appreciated by the audience, loyal to the only way the anthem should be sung.
