Acea Run Rome The Marathon: Water's Role in Sports, Sustainability, and the Future

It's the water marathon. The element of water is indispensable, also thanks to the presence of athletes Lorenzo Marsaglia, Alessandra Sensini, Giulia D’Innocenzo who participated in a round table on the link between water and sports at the Expo Village of the Acea Run Rome The Marathon. The ACEA stand hosted eight of the most prominent international athletes competing: Hunegnaw, Birech, Keror, Samwel, Tulu for the men and Kipsiror, Cherop, and Lagat for the women. The round table titled "The theme of water among sports, sustainability, and a look into the future" saw the participation of three champions of Italian sports who have water as their natural element: Lorenzo Marsaglia (diving), Alessandra Sensini (sailing), Giulia D’Innocenzo (swimming). With them, discussing the relationship between sports and water, were Virman Cusenza, Director of Communication of ACEA, and Pierfrancesco Ragni, Deputy General Manager Corporate of the Group. The Expo Village of the Acea Run Rome The Marathon was inaugurated yesterday at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Eur. In anticipation of the Water Marathon's start, the village space, from yesterday, has ongoing entertainment initiatives and activities dedicated to sports and wellness within 4,500 sqm of exhibition area, with more than a hundred exhibitors. The village, a true marathon house, is open to everyone, not only to participants but also to sports enthusiasts and visitors. With the slogan "runforwater", this year's sports event wants to emphasize even more the fundamental role of water, for life, the planet, and also for sports. Along the more than 42 km of the race, on Sunday Acea will guarantee several refreshment points, with about 60,000 liters of water available to athletes and over 100,000 biocompostable cups, in the perspective of a circular economy. Themes that will obviously be protagonists not only in Sunday's race but also in the Acea stand inside the village. In the exhibition space of the industrial group, the leading national operator in the water sector, there are videos dedicated to water that help reflect on the consumption we make in everyday life and activities aimed at emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the water resource as much as possible. In addition to supporting the event, on Sunday four teams from Acea will take part in the Acea Run4Rome relay. Participation is also in the spirit of solidarity: on this occasion, the Acea teams have activated a crowdfunding to support the non-profit Association "Sport without Borders" that is committed to providing completely free sports programs to girls and boys coming from socio-economic hardship situations.
