Pope Francis has appointed Father Enzo Fortunato as the director of communication for St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The Franciscan, who has already modernized the somewhat outdated image of the Sacred Convent of Assisi, now moves to strengthen the Vatican team in view of the Jubilee of 2025. One of the first major events not directly related to the Holy Year but equally symbolic for its global reach will be the Global Children's Day, scheduled for May. The organization is entirely entrusted to the coordination of Father Enzo. Father Fortunato had already been among the organizers of the event 'Children meet the Pope', last November 6 in the Paul VI Hall with over seven thousand children of different nationalities.

In a statement released, Father Fortunato thanked Francis for the 'trust on this day when he asks me to serve the Church with these delicate tasks and to live my vocation through the communication of the Christian announcement. I feel the weight of responsibility - adds the friar - but also the joy and enthusiasm from where to start again: the children. The little ones are the best starting point where it is possible to touch the beauty of being together and the ability to look at the world with new eyes'.
