He had found his stolen watch for sale online. And he had also reported the theft. Italian police and the Vatican gendarmerie were able to trace the person responsible, who had indeed attempted to sell a valuable watch stolen from an apartment in Rome. Why the investigation by the Vatican gendarmerie? Because the alleged thief is a Vatican employee who is now under investigation for receiving stolen goods. Porta Portese, caught selling stolen goods at the market. Reported for receiving stolen goods. A warehouse worker of the Vatican is under investigation for receiving stolen goods: numerous valuable watches found at home. It all started with a theft report filed by a citizen at the Porta Pia police station of a watch, stolen from his home along with other items, which he then saw for sale on an online site. The officers contacted the seller pretending to be buyers and set up a meeting. Once it was verified that the watch was the stolen one, they checked the 54-year-old, who arrived at the meeting with a car registered to the Vatican City, as a warehouse worker. In his home, numerous watches of considerable value and materials used to certify the product warranty, as well as tags for pricing the watches, were found and seized. Also seized was money amounting to about 5000 euros hidden in various rooms. The Gendarmerie conducted a search in his office and also found other watches. The 54-year-old is under investigation in a state of freedom for receiving stolen goods. Investigations are underway to determine the origin of the seized material.
