Alvaro Vitali died suddenly on Tuesday, June 24th in Rome. The 75-year-old actor passed away at his home in the capital. Today, Thursday the 26th, the last farewell to the interpreter of Pierino. The funeral is scheduled for 3 PM at the Church of San Pancrazio in Monteverde Vecchio. But how did the actor die? Recently, he had been hospitalized for a recurring bronchopneumonia, as revealed by his wife Stefania Corona. It is understood that his condition worsened rapidly on Tuesday. Claudio Di Napoli, a director friend of Alvaro Vitali, recounted the actor's tragic last hours: 'He wanted to go home, he couldn't stand the hospital anymore,' the director told Fanpage. 'Every day he would tell me: “Tomorrow I’ll get angry and sign out.” And he finally did. Yesterday, as soon as I heard he had left the hospital, I called him and got angry. But he couldn't take it anymore. He had been hospitalized for two weeks and just wanted to go home. It was Manolo, a friend who had been assisting him for some time, who went to pick him up. He took him to lunch in Fiumicino, then to the barber, and finally home. Unfortunately, he didn't even make it there: after climbing the first three steps, he felt unwell and collapsed. The ambulance arrived immediately, but there was nothing they could do. He died in Manolo's arms.' According to Di Napoli, Vitali's last days were not happy: 'He was very sad. The emotional situation he was experiencing had profoundly affected him (his wife wanted to leave him, ed.). He suffered like an abandoned dog on the highway. I visited him every evening in the hospital. I would stay with him for a couple of hours and see him cry, suffering.'
