Sangiovanni announced today (February 15) on Instagram his retirement from the music scene, talking about a difficult period that led him to suspend (at least temporarily) all his scheduled activities. 'I can no longer pretend that everything is fine and that I am happy with what I am doing. Sometimes you have to have the courage to stop and I am here to share with you that I have decided to do so,' he wrote.

Participation in Amici

Sangiovanni began his singing career thanks to his participation in the talent show Amici by Maria De Filippi in 2021. Already during the show, but also in the weeks immediately following, he released some successful singles like Paranoia, Non+, Lady, Tutta la notte, Gucci Bag and especially Malibu, a song that got four platinum discs and whose video, in 2021, was the most viewed on VEVO.

At the end of the program, he ranked first in the singers category and second in the overall ranking, behind Giulia Stabile, a dancer, with whom Sangiovanni started a relationship.

First successes

In 2021, Sangiovanni released his first EP which got four platinum discs and immediately became number one in Italy. In 2022 he collaborated with the Dark Polo Gang and with Mecna and won four awards at the TIM music Awards. From 2022 he started touring Italian cities.

First participation in Sanremo

The young singer presents himself at Sanremo 2022 in the big category, competing with the song 'Farfalle': he comes fifth in the final ranking. A success that does not stop even after the Festival, so much so that the hit 'Farfalle', included in the first album 'Cadere Volare' (Sugar) gets the gold disc in Switzerland and the triple platinum disc in Italy, with over 50 million streams.

Collaboration with Aitana

Sangiovanni records together with Aitana, a young Catalan singer, a Spanish version of 'Farfalle', titled 'Mariposas' which gets a huge success. The two will also perform together in 2023, on the stage of the Ariston, on the occasion of Sangiovanni's second participation in the Sanremo Festival.

Sanremo 2024 and retirement

After being a guest at the 2023 Festival, in a duet with Gianni Morandi, in 2024 Sangiovanni competes again with the song 'Finiscimi'. He concludes the event in the penultimate place (29th). A few days later he announces his retirement from the scene, which leads him to cancel the album due out on March 1 and the subsequent tour.
