The appointment with Domenica In returns. Today, April 7, there will be many guests on the show who will arrive in Mara Venier's living room to open their hearts, among them Serena Bortone. As we await to follow the interview live, let's discover something more about the host.

Serena Bortone, who is she?

Serena Bortone was born in Rome on September 8, 1970 (she is 54 years old). She began working in the editorial team of Mino Damato's program Alla ricerca dell'Arca in 1989 and then continued in the team of other television broadcasts: Avanzi and Ultimo minuto, a docufiction format. In 1994, she collaborated with Mi manda Lubrano. Since 2010, she has been the author of the first edition of Agorà. She also served as a correspondent covering the French presidential elections in 2012 and the American ones in 2014. In the summer of 2013, she co-hosted Agorà Estate with Giovanni Anversa, a program of which she became the sole presenter the following year. On September 7, 2020, she debuted on Rai 1 with a new show, Oggi è un altro giorno, which then ended on June 30, 2023.

The farewell to Oggi è un altro giorno

On June 30, 2023, the last episode of Oggi è un altro giorno airs, the talk show is canceled and replaced by a new project led by Caterina Balivo. During the credits, which close the show for the last time, Serena Bortone thanks her loyal audience, the cast, and the show's regular beloved guests. "The audience of Rai1, who has generously followed me in these last 3 years, knows that I have always valued authenticity, freedom, and diversity. I wanted to reiterate it once again as I was saying goodbye to them definitively. In life, there's always a price to pay for everything, but there are values that are non-negotiable for me. In this sense, they are priceless." On September 23 of the same year, she returns on Rai 3 with the new show Chesarà... a program in which Serena Bortone interviews illustrious personalities.

Childhood

Serena Bortone has always been very private so very little is known about her and her childhood. What is certain is that her mother passed on to her the passion for reading. As a teenager, the journalist spent several summers in London and for this reason, she speaks English perfectly.

The illness

Last year, Serena Bortone worried viewers after being seen live with a bandage on her hand. The host declared she had undergone surgery, but then went beyond continuing with the program's hosting. Only after a few days did she clarify what had happened to her. During an interview with Giovanni Minoli, the presenter explained in more detail why she has a bandage on her arm. "I had De Quervain's disease." De Quervain's Syndrome is a specific type of inflammation that affects the sheath covering the two tendons connected to the movement of the thumb.

Private life: partner and children

Very jealous of her privacy, what we know about her private life is that in 2021 Serena Bortone revealed to Chi that she is single, but "in negotiations", without however going into further details. Rumors, however, have her happily linked to the orchestra conductor Lorenzo Viotti. She has no children and has never considered being a mother as a fundamental trait to define her identity: "My identity does not depend on being a mother. It never happened to me, I never looked for a child, I never pursued it. It went like this."
