Prince William had withdrawn from a major event last month, after learning the news that Kate had cancer. He was at the memorial ceremony for his godfather, King Constantine of Greece, at Windsor Castle, on February 27. He was expected to give a reading, but at one point he informed the Greek royal family that he would have to leave. And he rushed to his wife, to comfort her. At that moment, she had learned the results of the histological examinations done after the abdominal surgery she had undergone in January. In a video message last night Kate left the world breathless revealing that she was diagnosed with a tumor. She also thanked the British public for its "wonderful messages of support and for your understanding as I was recovering from surgery." Meanwhile, King Charles has said he is "so proud" of the Princess of Wales for her strength in making her illness public. Buckingham Palace released a message on behalf of the King, who is also undergoing cancer treatment, saying: "His Majesty is so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did. After the time spent together in the hospital, he has remained in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law in recent weeks." Charles and his consort "will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family during this difficult time." The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wished the Princess of Wales and her family "health and healing" after revealing she was undergoing cancer treatment. Harry and Meghan said they hope that Kate and her family are "able to do so privately and in peace." The couple released the brief statement a few hours after the princess's medical development was made public.
