After posting on Facebook a post asking the new year not to 'take' anyone from her, a woman came home on New Year's Eve and found her boyfriend dead in her apartment. It happened in Manduria, in Puglia. The man, a 32-year-old from Mesagne (Brindisi), is believed to have died of natural causes following an illness.

Heart attack at New Year's Eve dinner, died at 51 in front of friends: leaves two daughters

The tragedy

His girlfriend had posted on Facebook the phrase 'Dear year, don't bring me anything, just don't take anyone away from me'. A few hours later her boyfriend died of natural causes. Everything happened on the night between December 31 and January 1. Pierpaolo Colapinto, 32, originally from Mesagne (Brindisi), worked as a cook in a farmhouse in Maruggio (Taranto). According to initial reconstructions, on New Year's Eve the man was preparing dinner in the accommodation when he felt unwell and returned to his girlfriend's apartment in Manduria, where he was a guest. It was the woman herself, upon returning home, who found him unconscious on the bedroom floor and called for help. However, attempts to resuscitate him by the 118 medical staff were in vain. Colapinto had warned his girlfriend, a social health worker, that he was feeling unwell and the woman had hurried back to the house to check on his condition. The body of the 32-year-old is at the 'Giannuzzi' hospital in Manduria, awaiting the autopsy that will have to verify the exact cause of death. From the first investigations it seems that the man did not suffer from any particular diseases.
