Michael Jordan has been retired for several years now from the world of basketball, where he marked an era with his talent and his mentality. Despite the many records achieved while he was active, the American continues to set records. This time, however, in the world of auctions. Announcing this particular result was Sotheby's, which stated in an official note how six of the basketball player's shoes were sold for 8 million. This lot is the second most expensive in the sports genre sold by the auction house. The peculiarity, finally, is that these are not three pairs of shoes, but six different shoes. The former NBA champion wore them during the decisive matches for the victory of the Chicago Bulls' title from 1991 to 1993 and from 1996 to 1998.

Unknown Buyer

The buyer has not been made known, in full respect of privacy as Sotheby's has always done. Articles of this kind are collected by both fans and possible current champions. The best in circulation, in fact, earn enough to be able to afford a similar relic. More likely, however, that the buyer was some high-tech billionaire, Hollywood star or music star: the likes of Jack Nicholson to Jay Z, are often in the front row at the games.
