Mexican actor Adan Canto, known for his roles in TV series such as 'Designated Survivor', 'Narcos', 'The Cleaning Lady', and the film 'X-Men - Days of Future Past', has died at the age of 42. The news was announced by his agent, Jennifer Allen, who revealed that Canto had been battling appendix cancer. Canto leaves behind his wife and two young children. Joe Esposito, an Italian-American police officer and hero of September 11th, also died after a long battle with cancer at the age of 78. Canto was born on December 5, 1981, in Acuña, Mexico, and began his acting career in 2007 before moving to Los Angeles in 2012. He made his US debut in the Fox thriller series 'The Following' with Kevin Bacon in 2013 and appeared in the ABC sitcom 'Mixology' (2014) and the drama 'Blood & Oil' (2015). In addition to his TV roles, Canto also starred in the spy thriller 'Agent Game', released in 2022. Many friends, colleagues, and fans have expressed their condolences. In a joint statement, Fox and Warner Bros Television described him as a 'wonderful actor and dear friend'. In the 'X-Men' saga (2014), Canto played the mutant Sunspot, and co-star Halle Berry later cast him in her film 'Bruised - Fighting to Live' (2020). Canto's wife, Stephanie Ann, posted a photo of the couple with a Bible verse and the words: 'Forever my treasure Adan, see you soon'. Italia Ricci, another 'Designated Survivor' castmate, wrote on social media: 'I am completely at a loss for words. Adan was the strongest person I knew, in every sense, and I am so angry about what happened. No one deserved this less than this sweet, brilliant, kind, and gentle man. I am so sorry for everyone who is suffering from this devastating loss and my heart breaks for his family. You will always be in my heart.'
