Matteo Arnaldi has won the first round at Indian Wells and earns a pass for the match with Carlos Alcaraz. The challenge seems to have almost impossible dimensions for the 2001-born player who faces the Spaniard, already qualified thanks to the bye granted for his ranking position. Currently, the tennis player from El Palmar is the second in the world and represents the opponent to beat for Jannik Sinner especially to overtake him in the rankings.

In the first round, Matteo Arnaldi defeated Luca Van Assche in two sets, who surrendered to the Italian by 7(8)-6(6), 7(7)-6(3). Two tie breaks for the two tennis players who occupy the 40th and 86th position in the ATP ranking, respectively. Now when do Arnaldi and Alcaraz have to play? The match is scheduled for tomorrow evening, but the time is still to be defined as well as for Sinner's match.
