For a few days now, Italy has begun its retreat in preparation for the commitments in the USA against Venezuela and Ecuador. The Azzurri have gathered to prepare as best as they can for the European Championship that will be played this summer, with the national team called to defend their 2021 victory on penalties against England. In view of the challenges, Luciano Spalletti spoke, highlighting his desire to win also with Italy after the championship with Napoli. Calafiori: "Champions League? My former Roma teammates are rubbing it in." "I am curious to be able to practically verify what can be the difference between a victory with the National team and the championship with Napoli." So said the coach, who continued: "With Italy, I have not won anything. I did the minimum that had to be done, which is to achieve qualification. Given my age, if I want to experience an even greater emotion, it is to do something for Italy. I think I will not have the opportunity to experience more of these matches or competitions, so I will have to give my all, hoping to be able to make this difference and to evaluate this difference." Then, Spalletti concluded by talking about Joe Barone, former general manager of Fiorentina who passed away due to a heart attack: "He influenced football more in these five years as director of Fiorentina than many others who have been there for a lifetime and have done nothing of what he did. The Viola Park is the confirmation and the example of what it means to do things like great entrepreneurs." Then the coach explained why the test with the three-man defense: "Before we had little time and we focused only on one system of play. Now in these two friendlies we need to also do some testing. We have to do something modern." Spalletti continued on Donnarumma: "They are friendlies, but we have to face them with the right mindset." 19 years since the last time in the USA. "There are twenty million Italians, we are happy for their affection and we want to make them proud."
