The trial against Donald Trump will begin on April 15th for the accusation of having illegally paid the porn star Stormy Daniels and the former Playboy bunny Karen McDougal so that they would not reveal the relationships they had with him during his previous election campaign. This was decided by New York judge Juan Merchan, confirming the date already speculated after an initial postponement. It will be the first trial against a former US president. The embarrassing case of the porn star will thus be the first criminal trial that Trump will have to face during the election campaign, although it is considered the least risky of the four pending, both politically and in terms of potential prison sentence (rare for a first-time offender for falsifying accounting documents). However, if he were found guilty and elected president, he could not grant himself a pardon, as these are state crimes. The same goes for the trial in Georgia. 'Corrupt judges don't want me to campaign,' Donald Trump attacked the decision of the New York judge to set the start of the trial for the black payments to the porn star Stormy Daniels on April 15. The tycoon has announced that he will appeal. Donald Trump obtains an important victory at the last minute from a New York appellate court that reduced the bail from 464 million dollars to 175 million dollars that he would have had to pay by today to be able to present the appeal against the mega compensation for the conviction in the fraud trial. In addition, the former president was granted another 10 days to be able to pay the bail. The decision of the judges of the Appellate Division comes after Trump's lawyers had defined it as 'practically impossible' to obtain from companies specialized in this type of bail the coverage of the entire compensation, which must be paid before proceeding with the appeal. The lawyers had asked for a reduction to 100 million or even the cancellation of the bail. The request was opposed by the office of the Attorney General Letitia James, who had questioned the credibility of Trump's lawyers' statements, explaining that the entire bail could be insured with a series of different guarantees. Therefore, the decision of the appellate court is a defeat for the attorney general, who had already initiated the procedures for the seizure of Trump's assets in case of failure to pay the bail.
