Brighton-Roma was a rather heated match, and it was known from the eve that it would not be easy. The English, who lost 4-0 in the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico, were going to come out fighting, and so it was. The spirits were heated, especially at the 40th minute with van Hecke deciding to take justice into his own hands against Mancini. The white-and-blue center-back struck Mancini at the back of the head. A gesture that triggered protests from the Giallorossi with a hint of a brawl that was then quelled from the start.

Headbutt from van Hecke to Mancini, what happened

At the 40th minute, Roma was in its own defensive area trying to cover a free kick from the midfield. The referee, however, failed to see the incident and let it go with no member of the refereeing team calling him to the Var to sanction the behavior of the English defender.
