The event took place today, Wednesday, February 7, in the Giulio Cesare room in the Capitol, saw the participation of the public, institutions, journalists and partners, as well as the presence of numerous friends and fans of the sports event now close to half a century of organization. The Mayor of Rome and the metropolitan city Roberto Gualtieri, the President of the Capitolina Assembly Svetlana Celli and the Councilor for Sports, Tourism, Fashion and Major Events Alessandro Onorato were in attendance.
Luciano Duchi, President of RomaOstia, made an important greeting, using this appointment to thank all the guests present, the friends of RomaOstia and all the organizational staff, retracing the successes and the work carried out with great passion in memory of Rita, his life partner and fundamental figure, to whom the affection and success of many years of work are linked.
Registrations
Already 8 thousand registered, with a projection to 10 thousand, which would bring RomaOstia back to the relevant pre-covid standards. It will be possible to register until February 19 on the website www.romaostia.it. Starting from February 20, and until the bibs are exhausted, it will be possible to continue to register by donating 5 euros to one of the NPOs (Non-Profit Organizations) among Komen Italia Onlus, Policlinico Gemelli, Never Give Up as part of the initiative linked to the "heart month" which coincides with this February.
Athletes
There is a strong increase in the participation of foreign athletes, who are currently 2500, over 30% (in 2023 they represented 20% of the total registered). 800 are the only transalpine athletes. In addition, 25% of the registered are women, a percentage in clear and comforting growth compared to previous years.
Welcome return for the Italian colors of Rebecca Lonedo, who is in great shape with the recent PB on the distance of 70'13'' in Seville.
The route
We will return to run on the fast course of 21.0975 kilometers, revised in 2021. A route that reflects the technical and performance characteristics that have always belonged to the DNA of this race. From the choreographic start in the shadow of the Palazzo dello Sport, crossing the wide and flowing avenues of the EUR district, you reach the Cristoforo Colombo, the main artery that connects Rome to its sea, with the spectacular arrival directly on the roundabout of Ostia.
